Neither waterfall nor golden retriever, Joe Carmichael is a freelance writer and editor based in New York City. He has written for The Outline, covered science and technology for Popular Science and Inverse, and published fiction at McSweeney's Internet Tendency. At Tin House he served as a reader, proofreader, copyeditor, and fact-checker. Joe was born and raised in Brattleboro, Vermont, and graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, in 2014 with a degree in philosophy.
